A Young Businessman Arif Shaikh Lost 10kg, Achieved His Resolution Of The Year 2021

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

Running a business at such a young age can create a huge imbalance in lifestyle, which is exactly what happened to Arif Shaikh, a young businessman. Late-night dinner, junk food made him battle obesity. It wasn't until he realized how this lifestyle imbalance was affecting his health that he decided to change his style of living. With the help of the WFH team and motivation from his family, he was able to lose 10 kg in just 3 months. This is how it went down:

The Reason That Motivates Weight Loss

  • I had no intention of losing weight until one random night when I returned home late from work and my mother yelled at me and asked me to look over my health. It was late at night when she became very upset. Eating late, skipping dinner, and eating fast food to save time were all regular events for me. Mom always told me to find a way to balance my work and personal life.

  • My family had always told me to start taking my life seriously, and their concerns were amplified this time. At that time my cousin looked into a variety of diet and exercise plans for me. After much research, she discovered WFH.

What Is The Most Difficult Part About Being Overweight?

  • Everything in excess is bad; why live on the extremes when we can live a well-balanced life? Excess optimism that isn't willing to change yourself even a little bit is also harmful, as I was doing before deciding to lose weight. I was compromising on so many things because I was a little overweight. So I decided to hit the reset button and begin living my life fully.

Diet Followed

  • The WFH app has already created an entire diet chart based on your goals; all you have to do is follow. WFH Dietician provided me with a detailed meal plan that included macronutrients as well as micronutrients.

  • My breakfast: Around 11 a.m., I ate a bowl of mixed fruit. My lunch: This was and continues to be my first proper meal every day. I eat two paneer/vegetable parathas every day (no ghee). My dinner consisted of one bowl of daal/sabzi, one chapati, and a large bowl of salad.

  • Mastering the skill of counting calories by simply looking at food is extremely beneficial during a weight-loss journey. It's even easier to measure with WFH spoons.

Workout Followed to Achieve The Goal

  • WFH assigns you all of the workouts that are planned and detailed, as well as extra education information about how a specific exercise works on which part of the body, making those workouts more enjoyable. Jumping, squats, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) were my go-to moves in my workout routines.

  • I alternated between cardio and weight training days. There is a boatload of WFH videos available that explain what exercises to do. Aside from the WFH workout, I enjoyed going for brisk walks. At my own pace, I used to walk at least 1000 steps per day. WFH also has an equipment site where you can purchase home equipment to upgrade your workout routine.

What Difficulties Were You Facing During The Transformation Journey?

  • The lowest point was when I was unable to keep up with the routine due to my demanding work schedule. But instead of giving up, I remember calling one of the WFH coaches via the 24*365 support system and blubbering to him about how I didn't know how I was going to handle it.

  • He encouraged and supported me at the time, and he planned the entire routine around my schedule and needs.

How Do You Stay Motivated?

  • I only watched fitness videos, looked up my fitness role models, and researched health and fitness on the internet. I talked to other people like me on WFH to stay motivated. To keep track of my progress, I surrounded myself with only fitness equipment.

  • My entire family was extremely happy that we could all eat dinner together, which sparked my entire journey. After that, the results kept me going, and no one ever had to remind me to take care of my health again.

What Lifestyle Changes Did You Make?

  • I altered my eating and sleeping habits. I narrowed my options down to one type of food: healthy food. Now I keep an extra box of nuts and healthy snacks on hand so that if I get hungry, I can eat those instead of junk food. I began to dislike all junk food and began to appreciate what I had previously despised, particularly healthy food and exercise.

Lessons Learnt From The Transformation

  • Results don't happen overnight; good things take time and a lot of effort. I'd like to thank the WFH team and the entire group for their assistance in reaching my goal. And would appreciate their generosity
